Learning To Let Go

You just never know what's coming up next for us. We must admit how frustrating it is at times but it's all good once you come to terms with it. We had guest last Saturday night. David and I usually don't have guess at our place. We decided to change that and was very happy that we did.

Nate is a new friend of PLK that we met at the Bioneers Conference in October. Nate is going through a grant writing program and decided to take Punky Lil Kid on as his first project. He and his girlfriend Christina came down to Monterey from San Francisco to gather information in person from us. We had a great time! A little work, food, laughs, and a lot of drinks!! He also wants to be an active part of the PLK Crew and help out on other projects. We are so excited to welcome Nate to the Punky Lil Kid Crew!! We have faith in you Nate. Thanks for believing in our cause.

Last week, we were in a total different space than we are this week. It's funny how David and I come to certain conclusions around the same time. We realized that all the stress around coordinating the film festival was starting to take it's toll. It was draining the fun from the process. It was draining the fun from our life. Why? Because our work is our life. We are doing exactly what we feel we should be doing. We have been at this for about 8 months with no pay so of course this has to be a love thang. Seriously, we decided to relax, let go and enjoy the process. If you do your part, everything else works itself out. Believe us, it works!! This will be included in our Punky Lil Kid "On The Air" Film Festival DVD. Envision, create, believe!!

Have a great week!

Can't Stop A Good Thing

David, Rick and I at Punky Lil Kid believe in helping our community and planet. We believe in win-win relationships and projects that inspire and create positive outcomes for all involved. This is in our mission statement. That is why it was so sad to see on the website of a company that has had nothing but a positive experience with us that someone we only know by name and a few phone calls would try to slander us.

We have worked hard in the community on our own money to this date, to bring education on health and with our upcoming festival we will add to that environment, global solutions, entertainment, advertising and recognition to our local artists, performers and businesses.

We have had the stress of carrying this burden alone, with no budget, with a smile and lots of humor because that is the only way we are getting through this with our sanity intact. We appreciate those that have helped to ease our tech pains like Lee Holbrook and Kareem Hilary. So when someone like Calvin Fahey use slandering words like scaming people for money, it is a joke.

Punky Lil Kid if fully committed to our mission. Jealousy, slander, haters and posers will not stop us. This is bigger than any ego or person. Punky Lil Kid is for real and here to stay. So do your homework Calvin Fahey. Use the energy and focus you have for slandering for your projects. And feel free to submit to our Punky Lil Kid film festival in February.

Keep us in your thoughts. We are having great success with contacts and leads but trouble on follow through with local businesses. No worries, every lil thing is going to be alright.

Much Love,
The Crew Of Punky Lil Kid Productions

A Punk's Thanksgiving.

We hope that everyone is enjoying Turkey Day. David and I are just about to begin our Turkey day together. We received in the mail yesterday one of our show case films for Saturday night of the Punky Lil Kid Film Festival. It is called Trust 22. A documentary based on one guy, one film and how he accomplished it strictly on the laws of attraction. Inspiring right?

Yesterday the laws of attraction was definitely working for David and I. David had the luck of having a unscheduled meeting with the Mayor of Salinas Dennis Donohue. He is interested in hearing our ideas about changing the image of Salinas and possibly holding a film festival in Salinas as well. More on this later.

We worked out some fine details with Kinko's for some of our film festival printing needs. We ran into Kevin from Copy Center that can help us finish the graphic design for our cards and posters. We talked sponsorship business with Nick and Sal of Carbone's and had an early Thanksgiving dinner there. It was yummy!! All in a days work for us punks.

The website will be updated with bios, pictures and the Punky Lil Kid story soon. We will be out networking and finding sponsors again tomorrow. Zumiez's is interested. Send positive vibes out for us. More on our progress. later.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Punky Lil Kid Film Festival Has Sponsors

Hey Guys!!

It has been a busy time in Monterey as we find our sponsors for the film festival. So far we have Kinko's as our printing sponsor, International Cuisine of Pacific Grove has offered to bless us with some of their great dishes and Bad Ass Coffee will be there to serve up the joe. We have been talking to several other local business and some corporate as well. We will give a full update on things next week.

Rapheal, the artist that drew our boy PLK, made us another image for the site. The site should be updated by Thanksgiving. Be gentle, it is a work in progress but check it out. www.punkylilkid.com

The Schmooze Fest was a blast last night. Our crew members Lee, Kareem & Philippe could not make it but David and I made some connections and got a few minutes to talk about the film festival and our need for performers. This is the last Schmooze Fest of the year and it was great to see everyone happy and getting into the holiday spirit.

We are still collecting data for the aerial spraying and looking for help to move the project along. The Monterey Film Commission may be of help to us for the festival and the aerial spraying documentary. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

We wish you and yours a great Turkey Day!
Much Love,
The PLK Crew

Punky Lil Kid In New York

As of November 1st, Punky Lil Kid has been spotted in New York. Seriously, this is first time that Punky Lil Kid has been listed here http://www.digitalcinemareport.com/punkylilkid.html
This write up talks about PLK and the making of the clip that will be expanded into the documentary series about Punky Lil Kid. If you are a film maker yourself, check out the site and list your project there.

It's official and I feel I can announce it as of today. Due to the serious community need and pressure from my friend Tracy Flores (just kidding), David and I are doing a documentary on the Aerial Spraying. We have had great response so far around this issue and people are ready to help and be interviewed. PLK feels this will be a great contribution to our community and everyone that will be affected by this incident. We will keep you updated here on what is developing. We are looking for a title for this documentary. Anyone interested? You will be given credit and a free documentary when completed. Anyone else that would like to help please contact us with your ideas.

Punk Lil Kid Film Festival

We are now in the promotion phase of the festival. David and I feel as if we have been waiting for this forever. You can get film festival information at www.PunkyLilKid.com . We will be transferring the .tv domain over soon as well so you will be able to use both web addresses to find us.

Calling for artist, decorators and photographers. Anyone interested in display your art, playing music, taking pictures at the event and or decorating the theatre is welcome to contact us with their ideas.

So much to do.... so much to tell!
Have a great week!

PLK On The Move

It's Friday in Monterey!!

The weather is beautiful and fall is in the air. Punky Lil Kid had a great meeting on Wednesday regarding our upcoming film festival in February. Some new high energy exciting faces were there and we are on to the next phase. We are getting submissions and some seasoned pros would like to advise us on getting our festival off to a great start.

David and I are in full gear and ready to network, network, network for the next couple of months. Much to be done and the clock is ticking. We would love to hear from anyone interested in submitting a film, ideas for the festival, sponsorship or helping out.

We are off to enjoy the rest of the day. Look for pictures soon!

Happy Fall Fun,
David & Mika

What's New On The Monterey Bay Peninsula

Hi Guys!
I must say things are getting better and better everyday. David and I have found a venue and home for Punky Lil Kid Productions. Our 1st Punky Lil Kid Film Festival will be held here on the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf at the New Wharf Theatre February 1st-3rd.

This is not only exciting because Punky Lil Kid focuses on environmental and social issues in our documentaries but we are educators of health and sustainability and will be having workshops, seminars and many fun events here as well. Yes, we are pretty excited.

This week we became the California coordinators for the Organic Consumers Association. This organization campaigns for health, justice, sustainability, peace & democracy. They are the only organization in the US focused exclusively on promoting the view & interest of the nations estimated 50 million organic and social consumers.

Wait... there's more!

David and I are directing the Monterey Global Exchange Chapter as well. Global Exchange is an international human rights organization dedicated to promoting political, social and environmental justice globally through grassroots work. Yes, we are pretty excited around here. If anyone is interested in helping out or finding our more.... you know what to do-reach out and contact us!

Check Back Soon,
Smiles,
David & Mika

Putting It Out There

Hi Guy's

Things are moving along and we have a couple of updates. Digital Media Factory was a success. We met a few people that are interested in helping with the PLK (Punky Lil Kid) film project. We even met someone there that does pirate satteliting (is that a word?) Anyway, we are putting it out there and getting great responses.

We found a great site called Spiritual Cinema Circle that promotes positive inspiring movies that you will not find in the mainstream. They visit many different film festivals around the world to give you great choices that you would not hear about otherwise. Plus you get to keep the movies you don't have to return them! You can go to http://www.spiritualcinemanetwork.com/?kbid=8396

We will keep you posted on this but soon we will hosting some of these movies in the Monterey Bay area. Dates and location TBA. We are looking to hold the first Movie Review Night in November before the holiday starts.

Still waiting to hear about our funds for the bus painting but we believe it is just a matter of time.

Pictures are coming soon and we are gearing up for other projects as well.

With Love,

David & Mika

Intro To Punky Lil Kid Productions

Greetings!!

David and I (Mika) would like to welcome you to our blog. We found out of necessity it was time to put ourselves out there so we can be easier to find and keep up with . For our friends, they know about http://www.mikaslife.com/ and http://youtube.com/empowerthepeople but for others just getting to know us you can get a little bit of what we are about at these locations. We are a Monterey California based production company that also has a healthy lifestyle show called Zesty Life. October kicks off the series!! Local on the peninsula? Then check out Comcast Channel 24. or you can see the whole show webstream at http://www.ampmedia.org/

David and I believe in a living system similar to Permaculure. We educate in healthy lifestyles and sustainable living. "From Surviving to Thriving" is what we aim to spread not only locally but throughout the world. Check in, say hi and see how we are doing.

David and I are 4 days into a 3 week raw food program. We may eat a little steamed veggies but for the most part raw!raw! raw! We will make sure to fill you in on our adventures. We just got back from our Thursday's Farmer's market with lots of goodies and will be making a big tasty salad soon. David and I make great salads and dressing and decided we will be the salad people from now on at the parties instead of the dessert people.

Stay tuned. We are gearing up for our 1st Annual Punky Lil Kid Film Festival here in little ole Monterey and we have some people to get back to in the next day. We will also be attending Digital Media Factory tomorrow to show our short clip to get our major film project going. We also have an artist for our bus project and may have possible funding as well. Send blessings out for us for we are hear to bless as well.

Til Later,

David & Mika
