What's Been Going On Since Our Film Festival?

Hi Guys,

Sorry we have been slow on blogging. We have been up to our ears in networking, resourcing and just plain moving to the next phase. The film festival was a great success and now it's time to feed the projects that feed the festival. Sorry our tech guys (Lee) has been busy and the film festival pictures, comments and sponsors are not on the site yet but they will be soon. Please check again soon.

We have a new radio show called Empowered Perspectives. If you are in the Monterey Bay/Santa Cruz area you can listen at 1240AM KNRY Mondays at 3:05. If you are out of the area just go to www.KNRY.com and listen in there. You can call in, interact and listen for the prizes we will give away.

PLK's vision is getting clear and our connections are getting stronger. It's time and we are ready. Stay tuned.

Much Love,
The PLK Crew

Post Festival

Wow, January flew by with amazing speed. We barely had time to sleep let alone blog. But fear not, we are back! The 1st Annual Punky Lil Kid Film Festival has come and gone. It was a blessing and a success that David and I knew was necessary. Though we would have loved more support for our non-profits and more attendance, we know this is the beginning of a great annual event. Thanks again to Lee, Phillipe, Alex, Stacy, Marbie, Angelo and Terri for geing such a critical part of the first festival. Look for comments and pictures soon.

We have businesses ready to sponsor the next one and we are forming an amazing advisory board. In the next couple of years The PLK Film Festival will also expand, more on this later. It has been four days since the closing of the festival and we must press forward with our next projects. We have classes to teach, a healthy lifestyle tv show to do and books to write. Yes, this is the beginning of great things to come.

Much Love,
The PLK Crew

Happy New Year!!

Hopefully all of you are getting your New Years off to the best start possible. Our New Year was a little rocky but all is good. Things are moving full speed ahead with about 4 weeks to film fest. We are making adjustments along the way but we have total faith in the process.

We are now doing donations at the door and no ticket price. (regardless of what the website is saying a the moment :-) That's right donations at the door so if you have been thinking about attending, wanted to go all three nights but not sure if it was possible....Well one of your New Years dreams have come true!!

We are also proud to announce that we will be the world premiere location for the new movie from the makers of 1 Giant Leap! If you don't know, you better web search it!

Sorry to make this short and sweet but lots is going on and there is not much time for writing. Until next week...

Learning To Let Go

You just never know what's coming up next for us. We must admit how frustrating it is at times but it's all good once you come to terms with it. We had guest last Saturday night. David and I usually don't have guess at our place. We decided to change that and was very happy that we did.

Nate is a new friend of PLK that we met at the Bioneers Conference in October. Nate is going through a grant writing program and decided to take Punky Lil Kid on as his first project. He and his girlfriend Christina came down to Monterey from San Francisco to gather information in person from us. We had a great time! A little work, food, laughs, and a lot of drinks!! He also wants to be an active part of the PLK Crew and help out on other projects. We are so excited to welcome Nate to the Punky Lil Kid Crew!! We have faith in you Nate. Thanks for believing in our cause.

Last week, we were in a total different space than we are this week. It's funny how David and I come to certain conclusions around the same time. We realized that all the stress around coordinating the film festival was starting to take it's toll. It was draining the fun from the process. It was draining the fun from our life. Why? Because our work is our life. We are doing exactly what we feel we should be doing. We have been at this for about 8 months with no pay so of course this has to be a love thang. Seriously, we decided to relax, let go and enjoy the process. If you do your part, everything else works itself out. Believe us, it works!! This will be included in our Punky Lil Kid "On The Air" Film Festival DVD. Envision, create, believe!!

Have a great week!

Can't Stop A Good Thing

David, Rick and I at Punky Lil Kid believe in helping our community and planet. We believe in win-win relationships and projects that inspire and create positive outcomes for all involved. This is in our mission statement. That is why it was so sad to see on the website of a company that has had nothing but a positive experience with us that someone we only know by name and a few phone calls would try to slander us.

We have worked hard in the community on our own money to this date, to bring education on health and with our upcoming festival we will add to that environment, global solutions, entertainment, advertising and recognition to our local artists, performers and businesses.

We have had the stress of carrying this burden alone, with no budget, with a smile and lots of humor because that is the only way we are getting through this with our sanity intact. We appreciate those that have helped to ease our tech pains like Lee Holbrook and Kareem Hilary. So when someone like Calvin Fahey use slandering words like scaming people for money, it is a joke.

Punky Lil Kid if fully committed to our mission. Jealousy, slander, haters and posers will not stop us. This is bigger than any ego or person. Punky Lil Kid is for real and here to stay. So do your homework Calvin Fahey. Use the energy and focus you have for slandering for your projects. And feel free to submit to our Punky Lil Kid film festival in February.

Keep us in your thoughts. We are having great success with contacts and leads but trouble on follow through with local businesses. No worries, every lil thing is going to be alright.

Much Love,
The Crew Of Punky Lil Kid Productions

A Punk's Thanksgiving.

We hope that everyone is enjoying Turkey Day. David and I are just about to begin our Turkey day together. We received in the mail yesterday one of our show case films for Saturday night of the Punky Lil Kid Film Festival. It is called Trust 22. A documentary based on one guy, one film and how he accomplished it strictly on the laws of attraction. Inspiring right?

Yesterday the laws of attraction was definitely working for David and I. David had the luck of having a unscheduled meeting with the Mayor of Salinas Dennis Donohue. He is interested in hearing our ideas about changing the image of Salinas and possibly holding a film festival in Salinas as well. More on this later.

We worked out some fine details with Kinko's for some of our film festival printing needs. We ran into Kevin from Copy Center that can help us finish the graphic design for our cards and posters. We talked sponsorship business with Nick and Sal of Carbone's and had an early Thanksgiving dinner there. It was yummy!! All in a days work for us punks.

The website will be updated with bios, pictures and the Punky Lil Kid story soon. We will be out networking and finding sponsors again tomorrow. Zumiez's is interested. Send positive vibes out for us. More on our progress. later.

Happy Turkey Day!!

Punky Lil Kid Film Festival Has Sponsors

Hey Guys!!

It has been a busy time in Monterey as we find our sponsors for the film festival. So far we have Kinko's as our printing sponsor, International Cuisine of Pacific Grove has offered to bless us with some of their great dishes and Bad Ass Coffee will be there to serve up the joe. We have been talking to several other local business and some corporate as well. We will give a full update on things next week.

Rapheal, the artist that drew our boy PLK, made us another image for the site. The site should be updated by Thanksgiving. Be gentle, it is a work in progress but check it out. www.punkylilkid.com

The Schmooze Fest was a blast last night. Our crew members Lee, Kareem & Philippe could not make it but David and I made some connections and got a few minutes to talk about the film festival and our need for performers. This is the last Schmooze Fest of the year and it was great to see everyone happy and getting into the holiday spirit.

We are still collecting data for the aerial spraying and looking for help to move the project along. The Monterey Film Commission may be of help to us for the festival and the aerial spraying documentary. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

We wish you and yours a great Turkey Day!
Much Love,
The PLK Crew
